On Saturday, five matches of the Scottish Premier League took place. One of the championship favorites, the Rangers club, managed to snatch a draw against Dundee, while the newcomer St Mirren club feels more and more confident in the top Scottish league and managed to secure their second victory, solidifying their position at the top of the tournament table.
Paul Le Guen's Rangers had to share points with Dundee Utd at their home, Ibrox stadium. Rangers managed to bounce back after conceding two goals from Dundee Utd.
The first goal came in the 15th minute of the match when Noel Hunt scored a wonderful goal after the ball crossed by Dundee player Stuart Duff, putting his team ahead. After the goal, nothing so spectacular happened in the first half, and the teams went to rest with Dundee Utd leading 1-0.
At the start of the second half, Dundee Utd sent Rangers reeling. In the 55th minute of the match, Dundee Utd's Norwegian legionnaire Christian Kalvenes headed the ball into Rangers' goal after a corner kick by Barry Robson, leaving no chance for Rangers' goalkeeper Leonel Letizi.
However, the experienced Rangers managed to bounce back. In the 56th minute, Chris Burke shot into the near corner of the goal, beating Dundee Utd's goalkeeper Derek Stillie. The Glasgow club did not plan to give up and brought in recently acquired attacker Filip Sebo, but it was also Dundee Utd defender Steven Robb who, after a substitution, directed the ball into his own team's goal 11 minutes before the end of the match. The match ended in a draw, and Rangers dropped their first two points of the season.
In other matches, the Kilmarnock club grappled with Hibernian, managing to win 2-1 after conceding an early goal.
Managed by Tony Mowbray, Kilmarnock took the lead in the 30th minute of the first half through Dean Shiels. After receiving a pass into the penalty area from his teammate Michael Stewart, the attacker skillfully played the ball past the Kilmarnock goalkeeper to put his team in front.
However, Kilmarnock fans were relieved at the start of the second half when Colin Nish sent the ball into the net from close range in the 48th minute. Nevertheless, the home team continued to pressure Hibernian and managed to score a second goal. Scotland youth international player Steven Naismith took the initiative and, breaking through several Hibernian defenders, accurately sent the ball into the net in the 72nd minute. Kilmarnock achieved a hard-fought victory that lifted them to 6th place in the league table.
Currently, Falkirk is undefeated, having defeated Dunfermline 1-0 at home. The only goal of the match came in the 11th minute when Darren Barr headed the ball strongly after a well-taken corner kick by Russell Latapy to put his team ahead. This turned out to be the winning goal for Falkirk, securing their second victory in the Scottish championship.
Newcomer St Mirren is also yet to experience a loss, as they beat Motherwell 2-0 at home. John Sutton put the home team ahead in the 17th minute of the match, and in the second half, Kevin McGowne scored with a header into the far corner of the goal in the 51st minute.
Inverness managed to snatch a draw against Aberdeen in the away match, equalizing only in the 89th minute due to a mistake by the Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield. Stevie Crawford scored his second goal of the competition in the 28th minute after receiving a pass from Richard Foster, going one-on-one with Inverness goalkeeper Mark Brown and sending the ball into the net.
However, the crucial moment came in the 89th minute for Aberdeen. Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield failed to catch a shot, which landed right at the feet of Barry Wilson, who easily placed the ball into the empty goal, equalizing the score.
