The multiple-time French champions "Lyon" allowed their defender Lamine Diatta to move to another "Ligue 1" club "Saint-Etienne" without a transfer fee. However, if the player is later sold, the clubs will have to share the money between them.
The 31-year-old Senegalese international player did not find a place in the main lineup of "Lyon" and wanting to play more, he signed a two-year contract with "Saint-Ettiene".
L.Diatta arrived at "Lyon" from "Rennes" in 2004 and played 32 matches in the French championship, helping the team win the championship title twice.
The Senegalese is the second player to leave "Lyon" this summer - another defender has already moved to "Monaco", as part of the deal to acquire Sébastien Squillaci.
