The Athens club announced that they have signed a contract with former Spanish national team defender Victor, who moved to Greece after his contract with La Coruna expired.

It is reported that Victor has signed a two-year contract with the Greek club and will bring a lot of experience to the team participating in the UEFA Europa League - the player spent ten years in the Spanish championship and also frequently participated in European cup tournaments.

The 30-year-old Spaniard began his career in the youth team of Madrid's "Real" and later played 65 league matches for the "Royal" club. Victor, adding goals and sharpness to the team's defense, won the country's championship title and the Champions League in his first full season at the club in 1996/97, but the defender truly shone in the "Deportivo" team.

Victor moved to La Coruna after impressing the then team coach Javier Irureta during a season spent at Santander's "Racing", and since then he played 210 matches in the league in the Galician team. The defender was a key player for "Deportivo" in their victory in the 2000 Spanish championship, and after returning to "Santiago Bernabeu" in 2002, he helped "Depor" defeat "Real" and win the King's Cup.

The acquisition of Victor by the "Panathinaikos" team softens the loss of the team's defender Ezequiel Gonzalez - the Argentine suffered a serious knee injury last week. The Spaniard is moving to Athens together with the Brazilian Ricardo Bóvio, who arrived at the team on Sunday on loan from the "Malaga" club.
