Bremen and Germany national team striker Miroslav Klose, in an interview with journalists, was recognized as the best footballer of the country in 2006.
The 28-year-old striker, who became the top scorer in the Bundesliga and the World Cup, in a poll organized by the magazine "Kicker", received a total of 532 votes and won convincingly.
In second place was London goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, with 82 votes, and in third place was Munich defender Philipp Lahm, with 58 votes.
Germany's coach of the year was former national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, ahead of Thomas Doll and head coach Jurgen Klopp.
