Edinburgh's head coach Valdas Ivanauskas stated that Nicolai Vollquartz's mistakes cost his team victory in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against Athens' AEK.
"I am very angry, but not because of our game, but because of the referee," the Lithuanian said after the 2-1 defeat on Wednesday evening. "I think he made mistakes that cost us the win."
"AEK is a very strong team, but in two weeks we will have another game and we have a chance," the coach expressed optimism.
In Wednesday's match in Scotland, Hearts took the lead after a goal from Lithuanian Saulius Mikoliunas, but four minutes later Bruno Aguiar was sent off the field for a second yellow card.
With a numerical advantage, AEK pressed their opponents and at the end of the match not only equalized the score, but also snatched the victory.
The victory was not overestimated by AEK's strategist, former Sevilla Betis coach Lorenzo Serra Ferrera, while Athens' goalkeeper Emerson admitted that at the end of the match AEK was lucky.
