Sweden's national team goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson is expected to play in the English Premier League next season - the player is set to sign a contract with a club on Monday.
Manchester City has been interested in acquiring the 24-year-old player for some time and has outbid another club from the top division of England. Isaksson reportedly signed a three-year contract with the English team.
The goalkeeper will replace England national team goalkeeper David James in the Man City team, who had earlier announced his move to the club. The main reason Isaksson chose Man City is said to be the team's coach Stuart Pearce.
"Pearce believes in me and that makes me feel very good," Isaksson said.
"My main goal still remains to play for one of the strongest clubs in Europe, but for now I am satisfied with this move."
"In England, all opponents are much stronger than in France and goalkeepers here face much greater challenges. That's why players here mustn't be afraid of anything."
Meanwhile, Isaksson's former club, Rennes, coach Pierre Dreossi, announced that the new starting goalkeeper for the team will be the young Simon Pouplinas. However, the coach does not rule out the idea of also seeing the more experienced Christophe Revault in his team.
"Christophe Revault could be one of the options, but no matter what happens, from now on Pouplinas will be the main goalkeeper for the team," said Dreossi.
