Midfielder Pavel Nedved from Juventus and the Czech national team announced that he will end his career in the national team this Wednesday - in a friendly match against Serbia.
"I have no health problems. It's just time to give younger players a chance," said P. Nedved, who recently decided to stay in the team relegated to Serie B and scored 18 goals in 90 matches for the national team.
The 33-year-old midfielder made his debut for the national team in June 1994 in a match against the Republic of Ireland, which Czech Republic won 3-1. Later, P. Nedved was one of the team's leaders in the 1996 European Championship. In 2000, P. Nedved became the team captain, and in the last European Championship, he reached the semi-finals.
After that championship, the player announced the end of his international career, but in November last year, he returned to Karel Bruckner's team for a match against Norway, which determined which of these teams would qualify for the World Cup, where the national team was left out of the knockout stages.
After the championship in Germany, another Czech veteran, Karel Poborsky, also retired from the national team.
