According to the Scottish press, another Lithuanian joining the colony of compatriots in the Edinburgh club under a usual lease agreement could become a goalkeeper for the Lithuanian youth national team and FBK team.
The 20-year-old player recently left Klaipeda's "Atlantas" along with defender Kazimieras Gnedojus and moved to the Kaunas club, which is owned by "Hearts" owner Vladimir Romanov. Edinburgh team coach Valdas Ivanauskas recently admitted that the club has the opportunity to add two players, and the newspaper "Evening News" revealed that they are A. Bartkus and one-year Lisboa "Benfica" full-back Tiago Gomes.
Asked about this, V. Ivanauskas did not deny reports about A. Bartkus: "He is a young man with a good future, we are interested in him and he may come to 'Hearts', but he will have to adapt to Scottish football. He is a central defender, and we need players in this position. He can either resist attacks or run forward, he is strong and enduring, but he is still young and needs important match experience."
The newspaper article titled "Lithuania-mania" claims that A. Bartkus and T. Gomes could join the team by the end of the players' transfer window on August 31, but "Hearts" are unlikely to invite another player who participated in another club's trial and possibly performed best and scored an excellent goal in a friendly match against "Osasuna" like forward Andrius Velicka.
On Monday, the Scottish vice-champion team was already joined by another "Kaunas" goalkeeper Marius Zaliukas, who joined other Lithuanian national team players already in the team - Nerijus Barasa, Saulius Mikoliunas, Deividas Cesnauskis, and Edgaras Jankauskas.
