The champions of Portugal and winners of the national cup started the season by winning another trophy. In the match for the Portuguese Super Cup, they crushed the finalists of the Portuguese Cup, Setubal's "Vitoria", 3-0.
"Porto" struggled for a while to break through the solid defense of "Vitoria", but in the 54th minute, Brazilian forward Adriano put them ahead with an impressive strike.
"Porto" doubled their lead in the 75th minute when young Brazilian Anderson redirected the ball into the net, and just one minute before the end of the match, Vieirinha, who came on as a substitute, made the score overwhelming with a powerful long-range shot.
J.Ferreira replaced the Dutchman Co Adriaanse at the helm of "Porto", who resigned last week, becoming the sixth manager of the Portuguese club since 2004 when the club, led by Jose Mourinho at the time, won the UEFA Champions League.
"Porto" will begin defending their title as Portuguese champions on Friday, playing away against "Uniao Leiria".
