On Saturday, eight matches of the French football championship "Ligue 1" third round were played. Four of the matches ended in draws, and the temporary leaders of the championship became the "Marseille" club, who secured a victory.
"Marseille" played away against "Auxerre," considered an average team this year, and left no chances for them, winning 0-3. The first goal at the end of the first half was scored by the unquestionable team leader Franck Ribery. Just at the beginning of the second half, Toifilou Maoulidsa scored, and in the 70th minute, Mickael Pagis secured the lead for the team.
In the second place in the tournament table after this round, unexpectedly steps the "Le Mans" team, who defeated the newcomer "Valenciennes" in a tough battle 3-2. "Valenciennes" took the lead 2-0 in the 27th minute after goals from Steve Savidan and Luca Clement Savidan, but later "Le Mans" scored three unanswered goals and snatched the victory.
After two unsuccessful rounds, Paris' "P.S.G." team finally won, defeating "Lille" at home 1-0 with a goal scored by Pedro Pauleta in the 60th minute. It is worth mentioning that from the 64th minute, "Lille" had to play with ten men, as Rafael Schmitz was sent off the field.
This Saturday, the "Monaco" club finally secured their first point in the championship this season. The team took the lead against "Rennes" after a goal from newcomer Jan Koller in the 13th minute, but failed to maintain the lead, as Jimmy Briand equalized in the 86th minute. It is also worth noting that "Rennes" also earned their first point in this year's championship.
The second victory this year was achieved by the "Saint-Etienne" team, who defeated the previously top-ranked "Nancy" team at home with a minimal result after a goal from newcomer Ilan.
