Defending the title of Scottish champions, Glasgow Celtic played away on equal terms with Inverness and missed the opportunity to become the leader of the Premier League by losing two points.
1 - 1
26' [0 - 1] Stephen Pearson
80' [1 - 1] Grant Munro
After the failures of the leaders Hearts and Falkirk up to the 4th round and the draw of the championship leader St. Mirren, Glasgow Rangers became the new leader. However, its city rival Celtic had the opportunity to overtake the competitors by winning away against one of the outsiders, Inverness.
It seemed that it would happen, as in the 26th minute after a pass from Kenny Miller, Stephen Pearson defeated the host goalkeeper Mark Brown. Later Celtic once saved goalkeeper Artur Boruc from a long shot by John Rankin, but he got injured and in the second half David Marshall took his place on the field.
In the middle of the second half, the Celtic Polish player Maciej Zurawski missed the goal, and soon after, another Inverness forward Graham Bayne, who also appeared on the field after substitution, failed to make use of his chance, as his weak shot did not cause any problems for the goalkeeper. However, the hosts were able to equalize with an excellent shot from approximately 18 meters in the 80th minute, taken by Grant Munro, and Celtic had to settle for a draw.
