Argentinian national team striker Maxi Rodriguez has agreed to tie his future to the Madrid club and has signed a new contract until 2010.
In 2005, the Argentinean, who moved from "Espanyol" to Madrid and signed a three-year contract, was the second highest scorer with ten goals last season within the ranks of "Atletico", only behind Spanish national team striker Fernando Torres.
"Madrid's "Atletico" are very pleased with the player's performance and dedication," it is stated on the club's website.
25-year-old Maxi, who reportedly turned down a move to Milan's "Inter", was one of the leaders of the Argentinian national team in this year's World Cup and, together with his team mate, scored three goals, making him the most productive player in the team.
