After a one-year break, Valencia, who returned to the highest Spanish league, announced on Wednesday that they have acquired Brazilian defender Ze Maria from Milan.
With Levante, who finished third in the second division of Spain last season, the 33-year-old Brazilian signed a one-year contract with the option to extend it for another season.
Ze Maria was a defender for the Brazilian national team and won the Copa America with them in 1997, as well as the Confederations Cup in 2001.
Levante also announced on Wednesday that they have attracted the French midfielder Mathieu Berson from Aston Villa in Birmingham. The 26-year-old midfielder, who represented Auxerre last season on loan, signed a three-year contract.
M. Berson became the third French player to join Levante this summer. Earlier, Valencia's club acquired defender Frederic Dehu and full-back Laurent Robert.
