The Madrid "Atletico" team announced that they have made an offer for the London "Arsenal" attacking midfielder Jose Reyes.

The president of the Atletico team, Enrique Cerezo, stated: "We have made an offer for Reyes and are waiting for news from Arsenal. No player would leave the club because of his arrival."

As reported earlier, the 22-year-old Spaniard was supposed to move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish and English clubs have failed to agree on the transfer fee.

The successful deal between Arsenal and Real Madrid is being hindered by the fact that the English team wants to receive £16 million for the Spaniard or have Julio Baptista arrive as part of the deal.

Having moved to Arsenal in 2004, J.A. Reyes had difficulties adapting in England and wanted to return to Spain.
