"Dutch national team striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will play for Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic starting this season, as he left the multiple Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven club.
"Celtic" paid £3.4 million for the player, and the 27-year-old striker signed a three-year contract with the new club with the possibility of extending it for another year in the future.
"It's a fantastic move to a fantastic club. I played for "PSV" for five years, and it is also a great club, but I wanted to change the environment," said J.V. of Hesselink. "I wanted to move to another country and I feel great in the Celtic team."
His debut will not take place in this weekend's match against Hibernian, but he can't wait to play his first game at Celtic Park stadium as soon as possible.
"Celtic" is a fantastic club and if someone knows football, they understand that it is a club with a great history and great fans," added the Dutchman. "I hope to score many goals and also be a good player, so if Celtic plays well, I will play well too."
The striker began his career at the Twente club, and in 2001 he was acquired by the PSV club, where he appeared in 157 matches and scored 73 goals.
