On Thursday, the team currently occupying the penultimate place in the Russian Premier League, Moscow's "Premier," announced the sale of seven players at once.
The Russian club announced that the team no longer needed Russian national team goalkeeper Sergei Ovchinnikov, Portuguese goalkeeper Nuno, Nigerian national team member Joseph Enakarhire, Brazilian defender Jorge, Senegalese defender Pascal Mendy, former Ukrainian national team defender Dmitry Parfyonov, and former Russian national team striker Dmitry Bulykin.
Earlier this week, "Dynamo" Ramenskoye's "Saturn" club loaned Ghana national team member Baffoura Gyan, and this season the club has already seen the departure of Portuguese national team players Maniche and Costinha, as well as Greek national team defender Giourkas Seitaridis.
"We are building a new team, so we have to make tough decisions. At the moment, we do not believe that these players could help the team improve," said interim "Dynamo" coach Andrei Kobalyov, who replaced the former Russian national team strategist Yuri Semin, who resigned three weeks ago.
The 35-year-old veteran S. Ovchinnikov was the captain of "Dynamo" this season, but earlier this month he was punished with a five-match suspension for threatening a referee.
S. Ovchinnikov, Jorge, and D. Parfyonov arrived at the Moscow club at the beginning of this season, while Nuno and J. Enakarhire moved to Russia in July 2005.
These actions by "Dynamo" could be good news for Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Zydrunas Karcemarskas. With the main team goalkeeper S. Ovchinnikov leaving the team, a real opportunity could open up for the Lithuanian to defend the goal for "Dynamo" in the Russian Premier League matches.
This year, "Dynamo" is experiencing one of the worst seasons in the club's history. Despite the rich club owner spending over 100 million US dollars on new signings, "Dynamo" has only collected 13 points in seventeen Premier League rounds and occupies the penultimate place among sixteen teams. It is worth mentioning that "Dynamo" is the only Russian club that has never dropped to a lower league.
