In the European youth (up to 17 years old) championship held in France, the hosts became the champions by defeating the Spaniards 2-1 in today's final at the very end of the match. Samir Nasri scored the winning goal in the 79th minute, and the Spaniards did not have enough time to change anything in the remaining three minutes of the match.
This was the second time that the Spanish youth lost to the tournament hosts in the final - a year ago they lost to Portugal in the final. Meanwhile, France became European youth champions for the first time.
