Former "Manchester United" and Irish national team captain Roy Keane will become the new head coach of "Sunderland," which recently dropped to the second division in England. According to the club's website, the 35-year-old Irishman is expected to sign a contract after Monday's match against the "W.B.A." team.
"Roy Keane visited Sunderland today, where he met with the club's players and representatives," the website reports.
After ending his 18-year football career, this will be the first club where Roy Keane will take on the role of a coach.
Sunderland, which was relegated from the Premier League last season, is currently struggling at the bottom of the second division. The season started badly for the team: losing the first four matches in the league and being knocked out in the League Cup last Tuesday by "Bury," a team from the fourth division.
Prior to Keane's appointment, Niall Quinn, a former teammate of R. Keane in the Irish national team, held the roles of head coach and chairman at the club.
