According to the Italian media, rumors are spreading that one of the most powerful English clubs has reopened the possibility of acquiring French national team player and forward David Trezeguet.

According to the Italian press, the French agent met with a Premier League team and discussed the potential transfer of the player to Old Trafford. The "Red Devils" are still looking for a replacement for the legendary Ruud van Nistelrooy, who moved to Real Madrid in the middle of this summer.

However, with only four days left until the closing of the transfer window for players, long-time Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is focusing more on the search for a new defender rather than a forward.

D. Trezeguet has been constantly linked with a move elsewhere as Juventus was relegated to the lower Italian league Serie B due to a corruption scandal. But the 28-year-old forward announced that he is satisfied with his club and does not plan to leave Stadio Delle Alpi.

However, it's not just English clubs that are interested. French champions Lyon have also shown interest. The Ligue 1 team sold Mahamadou Diarra to Real Madrid for a considerable amount of money and are willing to offer a higher sum than Man Utd in order to win the battle for D. Trezeguet's signature.

Meanwhile, the French player missed the Italian Cup match against Napoli on Sunday due to injury. The renowned Juventus lost after a penalty shootout and had to withdraw from further competition.
