The club in the capital of England, London, is ready to acquire the Egyptian national team player and club striker Mido, but his services are also being fought for by another club.

The coach of the Egyptian national team, Hassan Shehata, revealed that Mido is close to making a transfer to an English club after including him in his team for the African Nations Cup qualifying match against Burundi.

The 23-year-old player returned to a Serie A club this summer after being loaned to Tottenham and spending the last 18 months there.

"Mido told me that before heading to Tottenham, he will go to London for a medical examination," H. Shehata said. "On Wednesday, Mido will return to Egypt to help his national team in the match against Burundi."

At the end of last season, Mido hoped to sign a long-term contract with Tottenham but Roma asked for £5 million for the striker, and the London club refused to pay such a sum.

Roma is unlikely to want to loan Mido again, so Tottenham has no choice but to fully acquire the rights to the talented Egyptian. However, according to his agent, Newcastle is also interested in the striker.

"Mido will return to England. There are equal chances of him moving to Tottenham or Newcastle. We are waiting for the final details, but everything is already prepared," said the footballer's agent Mino Raiola.

During the last season wearing the Tottenham jersey, the African appeared in 27 Premier League matches and scored 11 goals. During the summer, Blackburn and Newcastle showed interest in the player, but the striker chose to return to the club in the capital of England.

After coming on as a substitute in the Italian Super Cup final against Inter on Saturday, which the club lost 4-3 after extra time, Luciano Spalletti informed the player that he is no longer part of his future plans.

This summer, Tottenham acquired Bayer Leverkusen striker Dimitar Berbatov for £10.9 million, but manager Martin Jol still wants to add a few new players to his team before the player transfer market closes.

Additionally, Tottenham is awaiting a response from Middlesbrough to find out whether they have accepted their offer for English national team defender Stewart Downing.
