Portugal's national team midfielder Maniche will sign a three-year contract with a Madrid-based team competing in the Spanish league on Tuesday - Spanish and Moscow clubs reached a mutual agreement.
According to the "Atletico" website, the 28-year-old player, who spent the last six months on loan to Chelsea, will be officially presented by the club on Thursday after passing a medical examination.
He will once again play alongside former teammates Costinha and Giourkas Seitaridis from the "Dynamo" and "Porto" clubs, who moved to Madrid at the beginning of this summer.
"Atletico," which, according to the press, paid 9 million euros for the midfielder, is one of the biggest spenders in the "Primera" league.
The club spent a record 23 million euros this summer on Argentine super talent Sergio Aguero and acquired Spain's youth national team player Jurado for 17 million euros, as well as former "Valencia" striker Mista.
Maniche's signing means that the Madrid team spent nearly 50 million euros this summer.
In 2004, Maniche won the UEFA Champions League with Porto, led by Jose Mourinho, and also won last year's English Premier League with the same coach.
The midfielder was a key player for the Portuguese national team in the recent World Cup, contributing significantly to the team reaching the semi-finals, where they were overwhelmingly defeated by the tournament hosts Germany 3-0.
