On Wednesday, the Serbian national team striker Nikola Žigić from Belgrade moved to a club in Spain and signed a four-year contract.
According to the Spanish club's website, the 25-year-old player will join his new team mates after helping his national team qualify for the 2008 European Championship in matches against Azerbaijan and Poland.
The 2.02 meters tall N. Žigić, wearing the "Crvena Zvezda" team jersey, played 76 matches and scored 45 goals, winning the League Cup with the club in 2004 and 2006. Additionally, the player was named the best player of the championship in 2003 and 2005.
Representing the Serbian and Montenegrin national team, he played 13 matches and beat the opposing goalkeepers 4 times.
