On Thursday, for an undisclosed amount, they acquired French defender Steed Malbranque from London.
"Steed is a talented player, a high-level versatile defender," Tottenham manager Martin Jol had only good words about the new team member. "He can play on the left, in the center, or on the right, so he will fit perfectly into our playing schemes."
However, S. Malbranque will not debut for the London team soon, as he is currently injured and will not be able to play for about 10 weeks.
The 26-year-old Frenchman, born in Belgium, arrived at Fulham in 2001 from Lyon and played more than 200 matches in the London team, scoring 32 goals.
As part of the deal, 21-year-old Tottenham winger Wayne Routledge will be loaned to Fulham for a year.
