French national team and club defender Pascalis Chimbonda moved to the London team on the last day of transfers. The Frenchman wanted to leave Wigan already after the World Cup.
"Spurs" had made several offers to the "Wigan" team for the 26-year-old football player, but they only received approval on Thursday evening.
P. Chimbonda spoke on the new club's official website: "I always wanted to be here. I am ready to play. Tottenham is a great club and I hope I can show great gameplay. I want to thank Damien and Martin, whose perseverance made this deal happen."
The aforementioned people are "Spurs" sports director Damien Comolli and coach Martin Jol.
D. Comolli spared no praise for the footballer: "Pascalis is a wonderful right-back. He defends solidly and can be useful in attack. I am pleased that we managed to acquire him."
The finer details of this deal are not yet announced.
By the way, "Wigan Athletic" said goodbye to two more players - D. Connolly and G. Kavanagh, who went to "Sunderland", and acquired three new football players - D. Cotterill (from "Bristol City"), S. Todorov ("Portsmouth") and K. Kilbane ("Everton").
