The uncertainty surrounding England's defender Rio Ferdinand seems to have ended. After the Premier League match against Watford, where the defensive pillar suffered a strong foot injury, there were doubts about whether he could help the national team in the European Championship qualifying matches against Andorra and Macedonia.
After yesterday's training session, which R. Ferdinand did not finish due to feeling the consequences of the injury, national team coach Steve McLaren announced today that the defender will definitely not play in the match against Andorra.
"We do not expect Rio to attend training today. But we hope that he will recover over the weekend and be ready for Wednesday's match against Macedonia," the coach said.
According to the coach, the opportunity to play in the center-back position alongside John Terry will most likely go to Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.
