Israel's national team captain and London club defender Yossi Benayoun will sign a five-year contract with the "Hammers". This was confirmed by the footballer to the British media on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old player was linked with a move to the English "Premier" league giants - "Liverpool" and "Arsenal", but he stated that he has no desire to leave "Upton Park".
"I never said I want to leave the team. It's normal to be surrounded by rumors, and "Liverpool" and "Arsenal" are two big names, but I am happy at "West Ham" and I will sign a new contract with the club in the next few days," the player told "The Guardian" newspaper on Wednesday.
"Everything is agreed and I will sign a five-year contract. This shows that I am satisfied with the club, and the club is satisfied with me," added Benayoun.
The Israeli player also expressed his belief that the club has the potential to compete for titles, especially if new owners take over: "Of course, if someone comes with a lot of money, it will help the team. They brought in two world-class players here, Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, so I think this club will take a big step forward."
The attacking midfielder moved to "West Ham" for 2.5 million pounds before the start of last season from "Racing Santander", after previously playing in his homeland - at Haifa's "Maccabi" club.
