The Nigerian Football Association invited "Šiauliai" legionnaires to play in the African Youth Championship first round of qualifying matches against their Rwandan counterparts.
The winners of the two-match tie will advance to the final competition in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which will take place at the beginning of next year. There, eight teams will compete for tickets to the 2007 Youth World Championship in Canada.
The first matches between the Nigerian and Rwandan teams will take place in Nigeria on September 30, with the return leg scheduled for October 20-22. Amaro Atigbiolaye will travel to Nigeria about a week before the first match, missing out on the "A League" games against "Nevėžis" and "Ekrantas" on September 24 and 30.
Celebrating his 20th birthday in December, the "Šiauliai" team's legionnaire is proud to have received the invitation and hopes that this will be an important step in his career. Amaro says it will be an honor to represent his country's national team and hopes to play in the U-20 World Championship in Canada next year with the team.
Also, Everton player Victor Anichebe, who plays in the English Premier League, has been called up to the Nigerian national team.
