Emil Heskey was bought for 6.25 million pounds. Liverpool club will initially receive 3.5 million, and later that amount could rise to 6.25 million.
Heskey, who yesterday celebrated his inclusion in the English team for the European Championship, signed a five-year contract with Birmingham. The 26-year-old forward has already scored 60 goals in 277 matches for the team, to which he transferred in 2000 for a record sum of 11 million pounds.
Birmingham's head coach Steve Bruce said: "This is a fantastic purchase for the club. Emil is only 26 years old and has already played 40 matches for England and will represent them at Euro-2004. Signing such a contract is a wonderful thing and I will be happy to see Emil in our team."
