The new president of Birmingham is American billionaire Randy Lerner, who on Tuesday increased his stake in the club to almost 90 percent.

Former club president at 82, Doug Ellis resigned from the post he held for almost 38 years, along with four members of the board of directors. However, "Aston Villa" released a statement saying that D. Ellis will now be the club's honorary president.

R. Lerner owns the American football club Cleveland Browns.

The American himself admitted that "managing Aston Villa was not a lifelong dream", but stated his intention to once again make the club one of the most powerful in Europe.
