The president of Madrid, Ramon Calderon, announced that David Beckham will sign a new contract with "Real" club in the next three weeks.
For a while, both parties had stopped negotiations regarding a new contract, but now both the former captain of the English national team and the leaders of the Spanish super club intend to sit down at the table and renew them.
It is reported that "Real" intends to offer the 31-year-old midfielder, whose current contract expires after this season, to stay in the Spanish capital until 2009.
"In the next fifteen to twenty days, the contract with D. Beckham will be extended, as both we and coach Fabio Capello are satisfied with his performance," said R. Calderon.
Beckham himself also showed at the beginning of this week his intention to stay in Madrid, stating that he cannot imagine himself playing again in the English "Premier" league.
In 2003, leaving for about 35 million euros and joining the "Real" team, the Englishman scored a goal against "Real Sociedad" in the last round of the Spanish championship, even though he started the match on the bench.
