For the second time this season, club's sports director Ivan Švabovičius took over the team and after a longer break, FC achieved two important consecutive victories. Winning six points in the last two matches, the "red and whites" returned to the fight for the fourth place in the NFKA "A League" championship.
In terms of lost points, Vilnius team is currently three points behind the "Žalgiris" footballers who are in fourth position.
FC Vilnius website asked the current coach what he thinks about the recent success:
"The team once again showed that it has excellent players and can play, compete with all the teams in the "A League." It's a shame that luck was sometimes lacking, considering we have played the most draws. Nevertheless, we are determined to rehabilitate," said Ivan Švabovičius.
When asked about the last match against "Šilutė," the sports director acting as head coach said: "We need victories like we need air. I am glad that the men focused and achieved the necessary result. I sincerely believe that in the upcoming matches we can and must beat "Vėtra."
The Vilnius club derby will take place on Sunday at the "Vėtra" stadium at 18:30. Although the match was supposed to start at 16:00, at the request of "Vėtra" it was postponed and will be played under artificial lighting hoping that more spectators will come to the stadium.
