On Saturday and Sunday in Lithuania, matches of the 29th round of the "A League" will be played. The only match on Saturday will be between "Kaunas" and "Atlantas", on Sunday "Sūduva" will face "Šiauliai", "Ekranas" will host "Žalgiris", in Kaunas "Nevėžis" will meet "Šiauliai ", and in Vilnius two teams from this city will play: "Vėtra" and "Vilnius".

In the only match on Saturday in the temporary capital "Kaunas" will meet "Atlantas". This will be the 3rd meeting between these clubs in the "A League", with "Kaunas" winning the two previous matches by the same score of 2-1. However, the Klaipėda club eliminated "Kaunas" from the LFF Cup tournament, celebrating two victories: 2-0 and 1-0.
These matches could be of significant importance as "Kaunas" is virtually unstoppable at the top of the league table, which may affect their motivation. In the last round, "Šiauliai" took advantage of this by defeating "Kaunas" 3-0 at home. Meanwhile, "Atlantas" played a 0-0 draw against Vilnius' "Vėtra" at home. The "Atlantas" defense, previously criticized, managed to hold up well in these matches, but the forwards did not do their job.
At the moment, "Kaunas" is firmly in first place in the "A League", with 68 points after 27 matches, while "Atlantas" is in 5th place (39 points in 26 matches). However, the Klaipėda team has played two fewer matches than Vilnius' "Žalgiris", and both teams have the same number of points.

In Marijampolė, "Sūduva" will meet "Šilutė". In this "A League" championship, the teams have already met 3 times, with all three victories going to the Marijampolė club with scores of 4-1, 3-0 and 1-0. In the last round, "Sūduva" played a 0-0 draw against "Žalgiris" away, while "Šilutė" lost 1-3 at home to another capital team - "Vilnius".
Due to injuries, "Sūduva" will be without defenders Mantas Uselis and Jose Cordeiro. It is also uncertain whether experienced forward Ottavio Braga, who is likely to be rested for the upcoming return match of the LFF Cup with Klaipėda's "Atlantas", will appear on the field. Before the match, the representative of "Sūduva" club Arūnas Reinikis stated that the team will seek only a victory in this match, which will allow them to continue fighting for top positions in the championship. However, he did not dare to predict how the match would end and called the current situation in the league complex.
Although the teams are currently fulfilling different objectives in the championship, points are necessary for both clubs. "Sūduva" cannot afford to lose points if they want to realistically aim for the 4th position, while "Šilutė" could greatly increase their chances of rising to the 9th position with a victory. Marijampolė club currently occupies the 6th position with 38 points after 28 matches. "Šilutė" is last (12 points after 28 games).
