On Saturday, the 7th round matches of the French "Ligue 1" championship took place. Even five out of eight games ended in a draw, while "Lyon", securing another convincing victory, remained in first place.

This time, the defending champions "Lyon" welcomed the successful club "Lille" at home, crushing them with a score of 4-1. Brazilian Fred scored two goals for the hosts, while Florent Malouda and Juninho added one each. The only goal for the "Lille" club was scored by the Lyon defender Cris with an own goal.

Finally, the last-placed "Nice" club secured their first victory of the season on Saturday, defeating the newcomer "Valenciennes" 2-0. Cedric Varrault scored the first goal for "Nice" in the 84th minute, while David Bellion secured his team's lead with a precise shot from the penalty spot in the final minute of the game.

The team "Nancy", promoted to the highest French football division just a year ago, continues to play successfully this season. This time, "Nancy" managed to hold off the more powerful Paris "P.S.G" club in an away game, ending the match goalless with a 0-0 score.

Also, on Saturday, two more matches ended with the same result - "Toulouse" and "Lorient" as well as "Rennes" and "Saint-Etienne" clubs finished their matches with a 0-0 draw.

The former season's vice-champion, the "Bordeaux" club, struggled to earn three points on Saturday once again. In the match against "Troyes", Bordeaux fell behind after David Gigliotti's goal in the 10th minute. However, at the beginning of the second half, goals from Jean-Claude Darcheville and Geraldo Mauricio Wendel turned the game around in just two minutes, securing a victory.
