For the third year in a row, the "Nürnberg" club, competing in the Bundesliga, failed to take advantage of the opportunity to rise to the top position and ended the match on Sunday against league debutants "Cottbus" in a 1-1 draw.
The visitors took the lead in this match when in the 10th minute of the game J.Mnari sent the ball into the top corner of the goal with a great shot from about 30 meters, leaving no chance for "Cottbus" goalkeeper Tomislav Piplica. After the goal, "Nürnberg" continued to have the initiative and created chances, while the home goalkeeper had to save his goal multiple times.
However, the "Nürnberg" team failed to take three points, as less than ten minutes before the end of the match S.Baumgart managed to equalize the score with a low shot from five meters, beating the visitors' goalkeeper.
In the other evening duel, the "Bochum" club, returning to the top league, met "Arminia". The visitors from Bielefeld gained an advantage after about 11 minutes, and P.Gabriel scored his first goal in the Bundesliga with a header. At the beginning of the second half, "Bochum" managed to equalize the score after a precise combination, with F.Junior scoring.
The hosts continued to press their opponents and in the 73rd minute they managed to turn the score in their favor – I.Ilicevic, who came on as a substitute, scored a long-range shot from 20 meters. Neither team managed to score for the rest of the match, and "Bochum" secured their first win of the season.
