In the first half, both teams exchanged several dangerous attacks. Guests threatened the goal with Sergėjus Kuznecov and Maksutas Azizi. Vaidas Žutautas, who played excellently in goal, saved "Vėtra" from conceding twice, but in the middle of the first half, he got injured and was replaced by the young Arvydas Kacinkevičius. Neither team managed to score in the first half.

After halftime, "Vėtra" stepped up their game with the appearance of Dejan Miloševski on the field. In the 58th minute, after a Macedonian shot on goal, "Vilnius" was saved by goalkeeper Maciej Kijewski, but four minutes later, D. Miloševski scored from 20 meters sending the ball into the opponent's net, giving "Vėtra" a 1-0 lead.

After scoring, "Vėtra" players became more active and started to attack dangerously. D. Miloševski continued to trouble the "Vilnius" goalkeeper - in the 65th minute, his shot from a distance shook the crossbar. In the 66th minute, Nerijus Sasnauskas broke through on the flank and passed the ball precisely to S. Kuznecov in the center, and although the shot by the leader of "Vėtra" was very dangerous, the ball flew just beside the crossbar. Towards the end of the match, the guests attacked more, but they failed to equalize the result. "Vėtra" defeated "Vilnius" 1-0 and strengthened their position in the fight for top spots.

"Vėtra" coach Aleksandras Tarchanovas stated that it was an equal battle on the field: "The match was even. Initiative belonged to one team and then the other. "Vilnius" has been showing good play and wins lately since being coached by a Lithuanian. It was not easy for us. We had to make quite a few adjustments to the "Vėtra" lineup before this match. Due to injuries, defender Algis Jankauskas and midfielder Bobis Božinovskis couldn't play, and after being injured, Sergejus Kuznecovas just recovered. Therefore, there were mistakes and gaps. I am glad we managed to win and increase the gap against the closest pursuers."

Goalkeeper Arvydas Kacinkevičius, who reliably defended "Vėtra" multiple times, was pleased to have his chance: "I am always ready to go onto the field. Today I had such an opportunity and I am glad that I managed to keep the goal "dry". Even though I had to go on the field unexpectedly, I didn't feel any nervousness, I trusted in my abilities and tried to play my best."
