Attacker Samuel Eto'o injured his meniscus during Wednesday's Champions League match against "Werder" in Bremen and was carried off the field. After the initial medical examination, it is estimated that the Cameroonian player will be unable to play for two to three months.
Tests showed that the footballer suffered a tear in the right knee meniscus.
Barcelona's club doctor Ricardas Pruna said: "He suffered a tear in the outer part of the right knee meniscus and preliminary examinations showed that the recovery period could last from two to three months."
This season, the 25-year-old footballer has already scored 4 goals in the Spanish "La Liga" tournament and 1 goal in the UEFA Champions League.
It is believed that now the new "Barcelona" acquisition, the Icelandic Eidur Gudjohnsen, and the Argentine Javier Saviola, who belongs to the Catalan club but rarely plays, will have more chances to shine in attack.
Samuel Eto'o is expected to return to the field before the New Year.
