After a goalless draw in the second leg of the UEFA Cup first round match against Prague's "Sparta" in the Czech Republic on Thursday, which resulted in elimination from the tournament, Edinburgh's head coach Valdas Ivanauskas regretted missed opportunities.
Following a 2-0 loss in the first leg at home, "Hearts" had to win by a two-goal margin in order to have a chance to progress to the next stage.
In Thursday's match, the young "Hearts" forward Jamie Mole missed two excellent opportunities.
"If Jamie had scored, we would have won and progressed to the next stage," the Lithuanian said after the match. "But he is still young - it will be a good experience for him."
In the beginning of the second half, J.Mole missed a great chance to put the visitors ahead when he shot straight at "Sparta" goalkeeper Jaromir Blažek from about 15 meters.
V.Ivanauskas congratulated the Czech club on their victory, but added that injuries played a big part.
"It's very difficult for us right now because we wanted to play in Europe," the coach said. "But if we had a full squad without injuries or disqualifications, we would be playing in the Champions League right now."
"It will be a good experience for me and the team," the coach concluded.
