Round 8: "Bordeaux" continues to scatter points © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, six matches of the French football championship "Ligue 1" were played. Another failure this season was experienced by Bordeaux, who finished in second place last year.

This time Bordeaux players suffered a 2-0 defeat to newcomer Valenciennes. The match was tied until the 71st minute when the home team's player Eric Chelle put his team ahead. Despite multiple attempts, Bordeaux players failed to equalize the score, and in the final minute of the match, they conceded another goal - scored by Freddy Bourgeois.

Defending champions Lyon achieved another important victory on Saturday, defeating Sochaux with a single goal away from home. The only goal of the match was scored by Sylvain Wiltord in the 78th minute.

Another significant victory on Saturday was achieved by Monaco, who have been struggling to find their game for the second consecutive season. This time, Monaco defeated Le Mans 2-1 after a tough battle and temporarily rose to the 16th place. Monaco's win was secured by Jeremy Menez's goal in the 82nd minute.

After this round, Lille climbed to the third place in the standings by beating the tournament's underdog Nice 1-0 at home. Lille's only goal was scored by Nicolas Fauvergue in the 68th minute.

The season continues to be tragic for Rennes, who fought for a place in the UEFA Champions League last year. The team, which lost key players in the offseason, is struggling at the bottom of the table from the first round and suffered another defeat in this round - losing 1-0 to Sedan. The only goal of the match was scored by Stephane Noro from the penalty spot in the 39th minute. It's worth mentioning that this was just Sedan's first win this season.
