This season, there is bad news for many fans of the surprising Birmingham club in the English Premier League - one of the main attackers of the team, Luke Moore, may miss the rest of the season, as he injured his shoulder in the Saturday 7th round match against Chelsea and had to leave the field already in the first half.
Aston Villa coach Martin O'Neill says that the 20-year-old striker's injury could be a "season-ending threat."
"If Luke needs surgery, it will be a big loss for us because it will last for months," said O'Neill. "It is very unfortunate for both us and him, but he needs to rebuild and strengthen his shoulder."
For the past three years, L. Moore has been plagued by almost constant injuries, but the player has long tried to resist surgery.
"When my shoulder dislocated, I felt tremendous pain, but when it goes back into place, there is no more pain," the player recently stated. "For a while, I tried to avoid surgery as long as possible. This became a problem for the first time when I was 17, so it's an old issue."
To cover the gap in the striker line, O'Neill is considering offering a short-term contract to his former pupil at the Celtic team, 33-year-old veteran Chris Sutton.
Villa's strategist has constantly asked questions related to C. Sutton, but it is now known that he is eager to meet the player again in his career.
In January of last year, the Englishman joined the Birmingham team, but injuries plagued the player and therefore C. Sutton did not appear in many matches, but he worked and improved his physical condition in the summer.
Currently, the coach only has Milan Baros on the substitute bench, as strikers Juan Pablo Angel and Gabriel Agbonlahor are playing in the main team, but the Czech cannot play at full strength in all matches as he recently recovered from a leg injury.
At the moment, Aston Villa ranks 6th in the English Premier League with 13 points, and the young striker L. Moore has defended his team's honor in all seven matches this season.
