The president of the Vilnius club FC, Algimantas Breikštas, denied rumors to the Eurofootball.com portal that the team's coach, Brazilian Caio Zanardi, has been dismissed from the team. A month ago, the Vilnius club released a statement stating that the Brazilian strategist had to urgently return to his homeland due to family circumstances. When Eurofootball.com inquired about the reasons that prompted the coach to return to Brazil, A. Breikštas replied: "The coach's children were seriously ill, and he had to return to his homeland because of that." The club owner did not elaborate on the details of the illness and added: "The coach will not return this season, and we will decide about his future in November." According to A. Breikštas, it is not worth the coach returning to the team for the remaining part of the season, as there are only a few games left. The team owner confirmed that until the end of this season, the team will be trained by the club's sports director, Ivan Švabovičius. With the head coach temporarily stepping aside and I. Švabovičius taking his place, FC Vilnius, currently in 8th place in the A League standings, has won 3 out of the last 4 matches and revived the club's hopes of qualifying for the Baltic Football League.
