The head coach of the Swiss national team, Jakob Kuhn, has confirmed that he will leave his position after the 2008 European Championship final tournament, which will take place in Switzerland and Austria.
"I promised my wife that I will finish everything after the European Championship," the 62-year-old specialist told the country's "Sonntags Zeitung" newspaper.
J. Kuhn will become the first coach to lead Switzerland in three major tournaments. It is worth noting that Switzerland automatically secured a spot in the 2008 European Championship as one of the tournament's host countries.
Under J. Kuhn's leadership, the Swiss team participated in the 2004 European Championship, where they had to leave the competition after the group stage, and also performed well in this year's World Cup - being the only team in the tournament that did not concede a goal and eventually lost in the quarterfinals in a penalty shootout against Ukraine.
