Maskovas club striker Jo will have to miss the rest of the Russian Premier League season due to a renewed knee injury and may also be unable to help the team in the remaining four Champions League group stage matches.
The 19-year-old Brazilian striker injured his left knee ligament during the summer and returned to the lineup last month after surgery to play in the Champions League match against Hamburger and the Russian championship match against Saturn. However, the team will have to do without their most prolific player, who has scored 14 goals in the league, until the end of the season, as the Brazilian will be unable to play for about six weeks.
"It's so unfortunate to lose Jo ahead of such important games in Russia and Europe," lamented Moscow club coach Valery Gazzayev, whose team, including David Semberas, currently sit in second place in their Champions League group before the match against Arsenal, and are just one point behind the leader Lokomotiv in the Russian championship with eight rounds left.
