Coaches of the national teams of the Czech Republic and Bulgaria have chosen their preliminary squads for the European Championship: the Czech team includes 24 players, while the Bulgarian team consists of 23 players. Czech national team coach Karel Bruckner trusts young players - seven players who played in the U-21 youth team in the 2002 championship were invited. From the Euro-96 silver medal-winning team, only three players remain - Pavel Nedved from Juventus, Vladimir Smicer from Liverpool, and Sparta captain Karel Poborsky.
