On Sunday, the remaining two matches of the eighth round were played in the highest football league in Germany. Dortmund's "Borussia" won an important victory in a five-goal thriller against "Cottbus" as the away team, while "Nurnberg" and "Arminia" shared a point.
The most intense match on Sunday was recorded in Cotbus, where the local team "Cottbus" hosted "Borussia". The hosts were shocked when in the very first minute, "Borussia" defender Markus Brzenska scored against "Cottbus" goalkeeper Tomislav Piplica, but a minute later the hosts leveled the score through Vragel Da Silva.
At the beginning of the second half, in the 58th minute, the same M.Brzenska put his team ahead, and moments later the club's newcomer Alexander Frey also scored. Five minutes before the end of the match, a penalty of eleven meters was awarded to "Cottbus", which was converted by the attacking leader of "Cottbus" Vladas Munteanu to give his team a chance to salvage a draw. However, at the end of the match, the visitors from Dortmund did not make mistakes in defense and celebrated an important victory.
After seven rounds, Dortmund's "Borussia" shares 6-8 places in the Bundesliga championship with fourteen points, while "Cottbus" remains in thirteenth place.
In the next match, the "Nurnberg" team did not take advantage of the opportunity to return to the top of the championship table after failing to defeat the resistance of the "Arminia" club at home. In case of victory, "Nurnberg" would have collected as many points as Munich's "Bayern", Bremen's "Werder" and "Schalke".
In the Sunday match, in the 25th minute, the guests from Bielefeld managed to take the lead when Jorg Bohme scored from the penalty spot, but just over ten minutes later, "Nurnberg" equalized the score with the most productive player of the team Jan Polak. Playing in a draw, "Nurnberg" remains one of the two teams in the league that have not yet suffered a loss and occupies the sixth place with eleven points.
