After both main goalkeepers Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini suffered serious injuries in the weekend Premier League match against Reading, it was time for the third club goalkeeper Hilario to face the ultimate test. The Portuguese goalkeeper has not yet played in official matches for Chelsea.
Suddenly with P.Cech and C.Cudicini out, Hilario will take to the field in tomorrow's UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona.
Such a scenario would probably instill fear in many footballers, but the Portuguese goalkeeper is ready for the challenge.
"I am determined not to miss this opportunity," Hilario told the Daily Mail. "I am not afraid of my opponents from Barcelona and I am ready to stop their attacks as best as I can."
The 31-year-old goalkeeper arrived at Chelsea, coached by his compatriot Jose Mourinho, in June of this year from the Nacional team in Madeira and signed a two-year contract with the London club.
