On Sunday, the remaining matches of the seventh round were played in Spain. The title-contending Valencia players secured an important victory at home, defeating Osasuna 1-0.

In the match held in Valencia, the only goal was scored in the 16th minute by Spanish national team forward David Villa, after a pass from Fernando Morientes. However, Valencia's victory was slightly overshadowed by the captain David Albelda's injury - it is suspected that the cruciate ligaments in the Spanish national team's defender's knee could be torn or strained.

At the end of the match, Osasuna almost leveled the result when Valdo's shot hit the post, while Valencia ended the match with ten players, as defender Jorge Lopez was sent off the field during the added time.

Trying not to fall too far behind the leaders, Sevilla also strives for success, defeating newcomers Gimnastic from Tarragona 2-1 at home. Both goals for Sevilla were scored by Mali national team forward Frederic Kanoute, who rose to the top of the list of the most productive players with seven goals.

Barcelona's Espanyol fought for a dramatic draw at home: after scoring an own goal in the 87th minute, they were trailing 1-2 in the match against Racing Santander, but in the second minute of added time, Raul Tamudo successfully converted the penalty awarded by the referee from eleven meters.

However, Huelva's Recreativo failed to take advantage of a similar situation - Emilio Viqueira missed the penalty kick assigned in the fourth minute of added time, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Getafe from Madrid.

Real Sociedad from San Sebastian managed to win their second point of the season, playing a goalless draw against Mallorca as guests.

On Sunday evening, the highly anticipated "El Clasico" will be played - a special duel between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
