7th round: "Serie A" favorites were unable to win © EuroFootball.com

Over the weekend, 7 matches were played in the Italian championship. "Palermo" team unexpectedly won against "Milan". The other two championship favorites, "Inter" and "Roma", also failed to beat their opponents, while "Fiorentina", "Parma", "Atalanta" and "Catania" celebrated victories.

The "Palermo" club, for the first time in the club's history, managed to beat the "Milan" club away. The match ended with a score of 2-0.

Although "Milan" players were more active in the first half, they failed to take advantage of their dominance by scoring a goal. The ball narrowly missed the goal several times and once hit the post.

Using the unwritten football rule "if you don't score, they will", the guests unexpectedly took the lead three minutes into the second half. Taking advantage of a mistake by the hosts' defender Alessandro Nesta, "Palermo" defender Mark Bresciano shot the ball along the ground to put his team ahead.

After this goal, "Milan" continued to attack the opponents' goal and again came close to scoring several times, hitting the post in one of the episodes. However, the second goal of the match was scored by the visitors. Dida deflected a shot from M. Bresciano, but "Palermo" forward Amauri was the first to reach the ball and secured his team's victory.

Luigi Del Neri successfully started his new job at the "Chievo" team. The club he leads played a 1-1 draw away against the "Roma" club.

In the 40th minute, "Chievo" player Sergio Pellissier outwitted "Roma" defenders Christian Chivu and Matteo Ferrari and sent the ball into the opponents' goal. However, in the replay of the episode, it is clear that the Italian was offside.

Nevertheless, "Roma" managed to equalize in the second half. Davide Pizarro's shot was deflected directly to Francesco Totti, who deceived the goalkeeper and sent the ball into the Verona club's goal.

"Inter" failed to take advantage of the opponents' misfortune, playing a 0-0 draw away against "Udinese".

Although both teams had plenty of chances to score, both teams' forwards lacked accuracy in attacking the goal, and neither team was able to overcome the opponents' goalkeeper.

At the bottom of the league table, "Fiorentina" won the match against "Reggina" with a score of 3-0 due to points deducted from clubs.

Thirty minutes into the match, Romanian Adrian Mutu sent his team ahead with an unstoppable shot from 30 meters. Just before the match break, Mario Alberto Santana scored the second goal for his team, and the victory was secured in the 55th minute by the Italian Manuele Blasi, who sent A. Mutu's cross into the goal.

"Atalanta" incredibly snatched a victory against the "Sampdoria" team at the very end of the match with a score of 3-2. Despite the Genoa club taking the lead 2-0 thanks to two Fabio Quagliarella goals in the 11th minute, "Atalanta" players showed character and reduced the lead in the 38th minute, scoring two more goals in the final five minutes to clinch an incredible victory.

The Tuscan derby between "Livorno" and "Siena" ended in a goalless draw. Both clubs managed to send the ball into the opponents' goal, but neither goal was counted.

In a match played without spectators, "Lazio" unexpectedly lost to "Catania" with a score of 3-1. Fans of the Rome club expected only a victory from these matches played on a neutral field without spectators, but the players of the capital team disappointed their fans by playing poorly and losing to the league debutant.

"Parma" ended their series of unsuccessful matches, beating the "Ascoli" team 1-0 at home. The hosts' victory was sealed by a goal from Croatian Igor Budan.

The "Empoli" club fell behind twice but managed to equalize twice in the match against the "Messina" club, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

"Torino" once again disappointed their fans with a poor performance, but thanks to the excellent goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, they managed to play a 0-0 draw away against "Cagliari".
