In the 33rd round of the "A lyga" on Wednesday evening, Vilnius "Vėtra" and "Kaunas" met. Due to the results in other matches, these games were the last ones to raise intrigue in the fight for the top positions - "Kaunas" won and secured the champions title again after a year break, while "Vėtra" practically lost hope of taking second place.

After the unexpected loss of "Ekranas" to "Vilnius", the people of Kaunas could secure the champion title with a victory, but at the same time "Vėtra" could intensify the fight for 2nd place and reduce the gap from Panevėžys team to 6 points. The later than usual match attracted quite a few spectators. They defended themselves against the cold as best as they could - some with beer, some with hot wine or tea.
Before the match, the stadium was filled to capacity, affecting the players' actions on the field - at the beginning of the match, a shot from a legionnaire from Kaunas, Arkadiusz Klimek from Poland, narrowly missed the goal, and soon after, Kaunas goalkeeper Eduardas Kurskis, accidentally deflected the ball into the corner after a shot from "Vėtra" defender Dejan Miloševski.
A little later, a crucial goal fell. After a corner kick, the goal was scored by Kaunas' legionnaire from Poland, Arkadiusz Klimek - 0-1. After the goal, the visitors took the initiative and controlled the situation in the middle of the field.
After the victory, "Kaunas" secured the champions title in the history of the club and celebrated with a victory dance, rejoicing with their few fans who had come to support them.
