The legionnaire of the German club FC Schalke 04 from Gelsenkirchen, Lincoln from Brazil, strained a muscle during Thursday's training session and therefore will be out of the lineup for at least a couple of weeks.
According to the club's website, the 27-year-old defender will miss Saturday's trip to Stuttgart, where the team will face local side VfB Stuttgart. It is also not yet known for certain whether the Brazilian will be fit for next week's match against defending champions Bayern Munich.
Following the unexpected 4-2 defeat in the German Cup against FC Köln, Schalke lost defender Dario Rodriguez and goalkeeper Levan Kobiasvili.
Uruguayan national team player D. Rodriguez injured his leg in the match against Köln, while Georgian L. Kobiasvili is recovering from a thigh injury.
"We are working very hard to get these two players fit for Saturday's match," said team doctor Thorsten Rarreckas. "It will be a miracle if they manage to recover."
Currently, FC Schalke 04 is tied on points with league leaders Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga with 16 points, but Gelsenkirchen's team is in second place due to a worse goal difference.
