At the 15th place club in the Spanish championship, defensive midfielder Xabi Alonso confirmed in an interview that he has nothing against representing his current club in the next season. Included in the list of players who will represent Spain in this year's European championship in Portugal, Alonso also mentioned knowing about negotiations between "Real Sociedad" and Madrid regarding a possible transfer.
"I am a player of Real Sociedad and I will go to the European championship as a representative of Real Sociedad. I know that there are negotiations with Real about me, but for now it's just negotiations, and until there is nothing official, I am a Real Sociedad player," Alonso said. "No one can know what will happen in the future, but I would certainly not be against playing in San Sebastian next year, as we have a good team chemistry and things are going well here."
It seems that the young Spaniard will not play in Sunday's match against Real, as he still feels pain in his legs. Talking about his team's chances, Alonso said: "Real is not going through the best of times, but it is very difficult to win on their field."
When asked about the European championship, Xabi Alonso replied: "It's a great honor for me to be called up to the national team and I will certainly try to play as best as possible."
